‘Getting Lost to Take Back Control’ challenges conformity by encouraging us to explore our everyday urban spaces, reinterpreting the buildings, sound, and paths we interact with whilst also showing the capitalist culture we consume without our control. The publication examines ‘The Galleries,’ a prominent shopping center in Bristol, as a hub of capitalism, exploring its impact and influence. This could be the curved shaped design not resulting in an end, or even the ownership of the building. The solution, however, uses psychogeography as a device to help re-navigate spaces keeping control of your own abstract consumerism. The poster ‘Get Lost to Capitalism’ gives an insight into new ways to explore places without conformity as a solution to having more control.
Bristol Harbour Display was inspired by a series of type brought from business’s, industry and old style lettering in the harbour. This font acts as a fully functional display font. The purpose for this typeface is to aid the regeneration of the harbour. By providing this typeface, if a new local business requires a type identity this could be used. Alternatively, if the harbour needs a reshape or re branding this typeface embodies a brand around it.
‘Bristol Harbour’ was inspired by a series of type brought from business’s, industry and old style lettering in the harbour. This font acts as a fully functional copy font. Every letter has been vectorized and adjusted so that it has an aspect of what inspired it but also what looks consistent with the overall typeface. Although a copy font, this typeface does work as a display font. The purpose for this font is the same as the display style, aiding regeneration of the Harbour and celebrating it’s once iconic history.

This piece purley started as experimental. Gathering a range of images throughout Bristol and catagorizing them so that they fit as a collection. The images focus on areas that aren’t usually considered attractive or noticable. The layout of the images also represent a sense of unconventinality through the irregular placement in the publication. The publication highlights the idea of unconventional spaces everywhere and in spaces that othes may deem conventional.
The spaces include a range of spaces - small corners in urban areas or even the middle of a congested crowd which could be just as ‘hidden’ as anywhere you might usually consider unoticed.

The Listening Project Response
This book was an inspired visual response to the BBC radio show ‘The Listening Project’. The show follows a range of stories featuring people speaking about differences and experiences they’ve had in their life. This is represented through the composition of chairs. The style and material of the chairs attemps to personify something about the people. The use of materials could show a sense of class, age, personality.
